I am challenging the misconception that pencil is not a medium for producing serious, ‘finished’ pieces and the dismissive attitude that it is only suitable for using as a step on the way to creating something else that somehow has a greater value. I believe pencil is a valuable and valid form of artistic expression and while exploring and developing the range beyond what is currently considered as possible within the medium, I am attempting to elevate it's status to an accepted form of finished works in their own right.
