I learned to express despair in art therapy. I think feelings whatever they might be can motivate you so not all my art is so bluesy. The monotype below is actually a woodcut also. Thanks for the comments I need the input because it is hard to know if you are on the right track sometimes in art. I paint more now because I don,t have access to a printing press etc. You have to stay connected to your authentic self what ever the experience you are going through.Making art or writing means you maybe frustrated with life but you are certainly not giving up on it. You are giving yourself some space for things to transform or change to something a whole lot better. It always gets better changes can be frustrating but they are inevitable we just have to cope with it through things like art and art therapy.

Yes, they are wonderful Karin. Funny kind of thing to say about despair - but expressing it is the way to go, it puts despair to some use instead of letting it fester. To leave our despair just lying around inside us is like leaving paint to go solid in its tube. Despair is there to be used and you are using it wonderfully. Thanks for sharing it.

Karin I just caught up with you and your site. I am excited and moved by your "Transformation" and similar works. I have been saving some of my own x-rays to use in a painting.
Pain and ecstasy are very close, maybe reverse sides of the same coin. Your paintings point that way for me. I look forward very much to seeing more of them.

A very important part of the painting does not show up well in the photo. It says D.E.S. on the xray.

This isn't a good pic because of the glare. I need to make a better one. This is my despair art inspired by art therapy and an assighnment to use an x ray in a painting. It is about fears and medical problems. I like the anxiety I was able to express about my health. It was a very theraputic painting. Some art comes from pain.I am sure.
