The kite idea is a good idea if you design it yourself because it can be considered as sculpture. Also those whirling boxes in Larry Bruce's videos suggestbox kites.I could see how they could be designed with pesonal images like those video photos. At least that would make the kite idea into a work of art and very personal. It would certainly look like a postmodern kite.

The book was constructed in a printmaking class. I used prints and printing paper. I used unconventional printmaking techniques for the collage effect of the printed images. The cover is contructed from acid free materials. Foam core board fabric samples and a color xerox image of the Luna Moth. I used "Yes" glue to glue the book together in the accordian format. The other side of the book has handmade paper that I purchased and did not personally make.I t was a very experimental process so I can't tell you the exact step by step process. If you want to make one I would experiment. You should purchase acid free materials and "Yes"Glue. Hope this helps. Karin

Hey Larry, I woul like to see those kites! Do you have any photos to put here? I hope I will start again to do some paper makig. Have you already seen some kites made of hand made paper? Maybe those are made in Japan or China? That would be interesting....hmmmm......

I had an idea to make two groups but thought maybe it would be better to post this here. The two areas I was thinking is Kite making and origami. There are hundreds of different levels of kites to make and fly with some very ornate and artful, they hold competitions around different areas and it is an activity young and old can participate in doing. I just made a box kite and I hooked three kites together into a train, some hook 100 kites together to make a train, that interests me, some sport kites even have teams of five people, other kites have dragon heads very ornate, some kites have no sticks, I have four other kites an airfoil, an airplane, a butterfly and a triangle. My next kite to build and decorate will be the dragon kite. My last outing I flew four kites and had them all in the air by myself, very cool looking display. You might say art for the sky.

The origami I know nothing about but might like to learn or better yet see some examples created- just a couple of thoughts that this site gets me to thinking and or my creative juices flowing.
