The School of Visual Arts NY, NY
SVA with out any sort of aid comes up to about $47,000 a year.
That includes housing (which is about $13,000 a year)
I have have recieved about a $18,600 grant from my FAFSA, and have not been offered any other scholarships due to missing the March 1st deadline for competitive scholarships (My portfolio was not yet finished)
I plan to write an appeal for additional financial aid, but I doubt that it will be enough even if I receive additional funds.
I feel I deserve more aid for having a 3.71 GPA, and being involved in the following throughout high school,
ASB Vice-president
Four years of dance team
Four years of soccer
Indoor Soccer
Cross country
Track and field
Multiple play productions within and outside of school
Community 101 Public Relations
National Honors Society
Band
Concert Choir
Jazz Choir
Community Jazz Choir
Drama Club
Travel Club
Honor roll
Student of the month
as well as having a total of 605 hours of community service throughout high school. I enjoyed donating every minute of it, I might add.
It seems as though all of the things I have involved myself in during high school, and the scholarly academics I have earned are not paying off.
I have been having dreams of life in New York at SVA since I came across the school. I cried when got accepted, and have done the same just thinking about not attending. I have been applying for scholarships non-stop and have yet to hear from them.
Things are just falling through, and I want them so bad to work out.
Is it possible to achieve $20,000 in four weeks? (2nd choice deadline)
I am only aloud to get a loan of $10,000 for my family member to agree to co-sign.
Not many scholarship opportunities are too particular about giving their money to someone wanting to attend art school.
If anyone is willing to help, or has ideas I would appreciate it greatly.
Even motivation to keep trying would be great...
Thank you so much,
Sincerally,
Jaimie D. Myer
